Buying an inexpensive cup of coffee in Paris has been simplified by the Mairie, which has just published an online map of cafés that charge less than 1€ a cup.

The average price for a cup is €1.89 according to a survey late last year for Equip Hôtel – more than 150 of its cafés are on the new map offering cut-price expressos.

One cafe in the 17th arrondissement, the aptly named Petits Freres des Pauvres, is even offering an expresso for just 45 centimes while the Café Livres on the prestigious Rue Rivoli manages a coffee for €1.
